This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring PADS4 Viewer on LG webOS Signage 24 (8.0) devices.

Our current solution is not able to provide screenshots from video content and provides only basic device information. Both these points will be addressed in the near future.

Besides these two limitations the device is well suited for digital signage usage by PADS4.

1. First-Time Use

Before installation, ensure that the PADS4 Server version 2025.1 is set up and configured properly.

This guide is specific to webOS Signage 24 (8.0). If the Configuration Wizard does not start automatically, reset the device as described in 1.2 Resetting the Device.

1.1 Configuring the Device

No changes need to be made before installing the PADS4 Viewer. Proceed directly to Installation.

1.2 Resetting the Device

If the device was used previously, perform a factory reset to clear storage and prevent software conflicts.

1. Step One

   Press the Settings button (cog icon on the remote control).

2. Step Two

   Select Admin.

3. Step Three

   Select Turn On.

4. Step Four

   Enter the default PIN code: 000000.

5. Step Five

   Confirm to start the factory reset.

After resetting, the Welcome Screen will appear. Follow the steps in 1.1 Configuring the Device.

2. Installing PADS4 Viewer

Follow these steps to install the PADS4 Viewer on LG webOS Signage 24 (8.0).

Installation Steps

1. Step One

   Press the Power On button.

2. Step Two

   Press the Settings button (cog icon on the remote control).

3. Step Three

   Select EZ Settings.

4. Step Four

   Select SI Server Settings from the right menu and press OK.

5. Step Five

   Set Fully Qualified Domain Name to ON.

6. Step Six

   Set the URL for the PADS4 Server:

   • HTTP: http://<server>/pads4/apps/lg.zip
   • HTTPS: https://<server>/pads4/apps/lg.zip (secured connection using HTTPS)
   • Replace <server> with the IP address or domain name of the PADS4 Server.
7. Step Seven

   Set Application Launch Mode to Local.

8. Step Eight

   Set Installation Type to ZIP.

9. Step Nine

   Select Local Application Upgrade → Remote.

10. Step Ten

    Select Confirm to start the upgrade.

11. Step Eleven

    After the download, power off/on the device.

After completing these steps, the PADS4 HTML5 Viewer will download and start automatically.

• A connection indicator icon will appear at the bottom left of the screen:
  • Green = Connection successful
  • Red = Connection issue

To troubleshoot, check the Viewer Settings and log files for errors.

2.1 Checking Device Firmware

Ensure the correct firmware version is installed for full PADS4 Viewer functionality.

1. Step One

   Press the Home button on the remote control.

2. Step Two

   Open the SI App (ZIP) Dashboard and check the firmware version.

3. Step Three

   Ensure the firmware version is 03.32.01 (required for PADS4).

2.2 Updating Firmware

1. Step One

   Copy the firmware .epk file into the LG_MONITOR folder of a USB stick.

2. Step Two

   Insert the USB stick into the LG WebOS8 device.

3. Step Three

   The device will detect the USB stick and start the firmware update automatically.

2.3 Adjusting PADS4 Viewer Settings

• Press and hold the left mouse button or touch the screen for 3 seconds to access Viewer Settings.

4. Troubleshooting

Problem	Solution
Connection issues to PADS4 Server	Ensure the correct URL is configured under SI Server Settings.
Firmware version incorrect	Check and update firmware to 03.32.01 following 2.2 Updating Firmware.
Remote control commands not working	Ensure block remote control is disabled in Device Settings.
Screen does not turn off	Turn Off Display is not supported on webOS Signage 24 (8.0).
.Streaming issues	Verify the stream encoder format (MP4, MPEGTS, MP2T). Use rtp://239.0.0.1/?encoding=mpegts if needed.
